"My oil and pastel paintings are a celebration of life and light.   I seek to bring to others an experience of the beauty of light as it bathes creation and to point them to a pathway that reaches into eternity.  Sometimes the subject invites us to explore further with our imagination, and sometimes the most exquisite treasures are right at our feet."
Fred Somers has been painting full-time since 1975 at his farm-home-studio near Northfield, Minnesota.  His award-winning work has shown in museums in the U.S. and in Scandinavia and is included in numerous corporate, public and private collections.  He teaches  oil and pastel classes and workshops.  He welcomes the opportunity to work directly  with collectors to create a commissioned painting.
